Are Guitar Manufacturers Biased Towards Men?

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 9:47 pm

More women than ever are playing the guitar nowadays. More luthiers and guitar manufacturing companies are paying attention to the needs of smaller female players, their playing styles, and their sense of style and design. What exactly is a girls/womans guitar and what are the differences one might expect to find in a guitar described this way?
Guitars made to fit the female form are becoming more fashionable than ever. The first time I picked one up to play I noticed it weighed less and had a nice but smaller feel that adapts well to a smaller hand without loss of tone or sound quality at all. I would not hesitate to recommend this sort of guitar to anyone who is smaller than the average man, including the up and coming virtuosos, and rock stars; children. Although your favorite nephew may not appreciate a pink guitar like the Squier Hello Kitty Electric Guitar.
Playing an instrument that feels right may help you to achieve your emotional and creative goals more easily. Wrestling with a guitar that is too big or heavy takes away from the concentration and comfort needed to perform at a high level.
The major players in bringing Girls Guitars to the public are limited, but include Squier, Gibson. Epiphone, Luna and Daisy Rock. These are just a few of this type of companies known to this author, catering to this new niche. There are a range of models to fit taste preferences as well as budget. It should be noted that Luna, which is one of the smaller companies listed above is owned by a woman who is an artist whose bass player mother inspired her to create a guitar to better suit her mothers needs. It is clear in looking at a Luna guitar that it is a beautifully crafted instrument.
Lets get to it, here are my personal picks for the best guitars for smaller players:
1. Luna Muse Parlor Acoustic Guitar is a brilliant acoustic guitar that is beautiful in design and is very comfy for any player. This is a particularly *affordable model, and plays easily and has great tones, including some very pleasing deep bass tones. It has a lovely soft matt finish, and some clean well crafted celtic knot style wood inlays in various places, as well as moon phase inlays of pearl (pearl like appearance) on the fretboard. The tuners have a really lovely matt grey metal finish. This guitar plays like it wants to be played.
2. Luna Andromeda Phoenix Bass Guitar. It is noticeably lighter in weight than the majority of bass guitars I have examined with out losing any of the tone and pop heard from any good bass guitar. It is also a very affordable guitar.
3. The Squier Hello Kitty Stratocaster Electric Guitar is an extremely affordable solid body electric guitar, The friendly face of Hello Kitty is painted on the custom kitty head shaped pickguard on either a bubble gum pink or a black Stratocaster style guitar. This is a decent first guitar for an aspiring rock star gal in your life. Squire also makes an even less expensive Hello Kitty Mini Stratocaster Electric Guitar. It is smaller, has three single coil pickups, a 20 fret neck, and simpler Hello Kitty Graphics on the guitar body. It comes in black and Pink.
4. Daisy Rock Candy Series Daisy Rock Guitars guitar company was established in 2000 by Tish Ciravolo. The company manufactures and markets guitars designed specifically for girls and women. The Daisy Rock Candy Series includes several models of solid-body electric guitars with a single-cutaway body, similar to the body outline of a Gibson Les Paul or Paul Reed Smith single-cut guitar. They sound great and are easy to play. A top quality guitar that allows you to express yourself with great clarity.
5. Daisy Rock Short Scale Guitars. The Heartbreaker Short Scale is proof evolution still is alive in guitar design with a uniquely cut feminine body and a 22-1/2 scale neck making the guitar comfortable for smaller guitarists while still holding on to the the soul of a rocking guitar. Top quality features include a rock maple neck, basswood body, beautiful pearloid heart inlays, and shiny chrome hardware.
6. Minarik Inferno Electric Guitar Endorsed by Shred-mistress Rynata. It has an unusual body design and top notch electrics along with beautiful hardware, manufactured using advanced design techniques. Most women players agree that it has a great feel and super tone.
7. Gibson Les Paul Goddess delivers the same pure tone of a traditional Les Paul in a light, streamlined body. Comfortable enough to play for hours, tough enough to shake the house down. Typical Gibson quality and sound. Uniquely crafted light weight mahogany body with a figured maple top & narrow nut. The slim 60s-style neck is really slippery along with hi powered translucent 490R & 498T humbuckers you can wake up the neighborhood. The slim reduced body size is designed for optimum fit and performance for smaller body sizes. This is a real top line guitar for serious players.
8. ESP Horizon 3 Girl Electric Guitar. The ESP Horizon 3 Girl Electric Guitar is an unbelievable custom axe that incorporates a breathtaking emerald green see-thru finish over a figured maple top with an anime girl graphic. It’s an excellent partner to the sleek Horizon 3 body, with it’s scalloped double cutaways, large upper horn and jet black headstock that follows the body’s curves. This guitar doesn’t stop at great looks. . In addition to the maple top, the Horizon 3 Girl features a solid mahogany body and maple neck to ensure great tone and sustain. Two EMG81 humbucker pickups means this young lady has a very powerful voice, one that will growl on your chunky chords and wail high and clear on your solos. All of the hardware is black including high quality Sperzel tuners, a tone-enhancing Gotoh bridge, volume & tone knobs and a 3-way pickup switch. This guitar is an amazing high quality guitar for the accomplished player, or performer.
9. Epiphone Emily the Strange SG Electric Guitar. The limited-edition Epiphone Emily The Strange G-310 SG features Emily’s face and other graphics from the Cosmic Debris character including, of course, one of Emily black cats. This axe delivers everything from warm distortion to all-out scream with 2 hot-wired humbuckers. Crafted with select hardwood body, bolt-on mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Also features tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and chrome tuners.
10. Taylor Baby Taylor Mahogany Top Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is a 3/4 scale guitar. It has a perfectly symmetrical design and is like a full sized guitar. it is not designated as a womans/girls guitar, however it’s unique size and the usual superior Taylor quality will surprise smaller people with it’s perfect sound and feel. The Taylor Baby Taylor is a great slightly smaller guitar at an affordable price .
11. Fender Custom Shop Bonnie Raitt Model . This particular guitar is excellent. It is one of the sweetest guitars I have ever played. It is a Stratocaster in every way. Primarily, the biggest difference between this Strat and a stock American Strat is the nice narrow neck and terrific manufacturing job performed in The Fender Custom Shop. This guitar is not in production now, and must be acquired used. It is a great find if you come upon one.
*GPC defines affordable as any guitar which costs under $550 when new.

Best Places for Teen Shopping Experience

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 8:59 pm

When I was a teen I always wanted to go to the mall. Teens want to go to the mall. They want to shop alone, without parents, without their siblings there. Going to the mall is one of the best shopping experiences for teens. They get to hang out with their friends, talk to boys or girls. It’s a way of social networking for them outside of school.

Teens want to go somewhere where they can be themselves and be with their friends. Some of the best shopping malls I know of in Nevada are in Las Vegas. The Galleria at Sunset is a huge mall, that’s very sunny and open. Light comes in through the ceiling and there is a huge food court and lots of stores to go to. It’s also near a Halloween store, Best Buy, and plenty of restaurants. Teens love this mall because there are so many popular stores there like The Gap, Forever 21, and Charlotte Russo. Along with tons of music and video stores and of course all the large department stores like Meryvn’s, Dillards, JCPenny, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. This is a two story mall which also affords the experience of running up and down escalators and stairs and yelling at each other from one level to another! Not that mall security much likes that, but it’s what teens want to do. Another great mall in Vegas is the Boulevard Mall.

They have a lot of the same great stores as the Galleria, however this is a very large and long mall. All one story and on a main street in Vegas, near tons of fast food restaurants and not far from the high schools in the area. This is also one of the only malls in Vegas where you can find a Hello Kitty store that sells everything Hello Kitty along with all the other Hello Kitty friends. Some of the higher end malls that teens want to go to are at the casinos. During the day they can definitely be there, at night it’s a little bit different and a lot busier. The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace, The Venetian, Planet Hollywood just to name a few.

These malls are very cool and have a lot shops and stores in there that your not going to find anywhere else in Vegas. Teens love these because there on the strip, in the heart of Vegas and there is so much to do at the mall and the casino itself. Teens want a fun experience while shopping so they can interact with their friends and get away from it all.

Kremlin stars

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 6:49 pm

I want to introduct something about Hello Kitty Bed Canopy. 100% Polyester, T/C Cloth Size: 60 x 250 x 900 (1,200, 1,250) cm PP bag/pc Carton Packing: 12pcs/ctnmor The Kremlin stars (Russian: ??????????? ??????) are the pentagonal luminescent ruby stars, installed in the 1930s on five towers of the Moscow Kremlin, replacing the gilded eagles that had symbolized Imperial Russia.InstallationA Kremlin starThe first Kremlin star was installed on top of the Spasskaya Tower on October 25, 1935. During the next week, another three stars were installed on the Troitskaya, Nikolskaya and Borovitskaya towers. These stars replaced the huge copper two-headed eagles, installed in pre-revolutionary times, which were a part of the Coat of Arms of Imperial Russia. The body of each star was made of stainless steel and covered with copper plating. The Kremlin stars were decorated with a hammer and sickle on both sides, made of semi-precious stones from the Ural mountains. The installation of the first Kremlin stars did not meet the designer’s expectations since the surfaces of the semi-precious stones lost their luster and required re-faceting. In 1937, these stars were replaced with new ones made of ruby glass, in time for the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution. One more star was also installed on the Vodovzvodnaya tower.Characteristics of the starsA Kremlin starThe size and the form of each of the five stars were defined proceeding from the height and architectural features of each corresponding tower. The distance between the end points of beams of the star installed on the Vodovzvodnaya tower equals 3 m, Borovitskaya tower 3.2 m, Troitskaya tower 3.5 m, Nikolskaya and Spasskaya towers 3.75 m. The bearing construction of each of the Kremlin stars is made of stainless steel and represents a spatial pentagonal star, the points of which have the form of a tetrahedral pyramid. The durability and rigidness of the construction was designed to withstand the maximum pressure of a hurricane wind equaling 200 kgf per square meter (2 kPa). Despite the considerable mass of each star (approx. 1 tonne), they revolve pretty easily as the wind changes its direction. Because of its form, each star always positions itself with its frontal side against the wind. The Kremlin stars are illuminated from the inside by filament lamps so that they could be seen against the sky. Even distribution of light inside the stars is ensured by the refractors, which consist of prismatic glass plates. The power of these lamps (3.7 kW in the stars of the Vodovzvodnaya and Borovitskaya towers and 5 kW in the remaining three) ensures good visibility of the stars day and night. The lamps have a luminous intensity of 22 lm/W. The 5 kW lamps are 383 mm in length, the diameter of their retorts is 177 mm. Each lamp produces a lot of heat, thence, each star has to be cooled off every now and then. For this purpose, each tower is equipped with two fans aimed at the star. The Nikolskaya TowerWhen the stars were being covered with glass, the experts had to take into consideration the fact that the stars had to shine brightly during the night and keep their ruby red color during the day, so that the electrical filament in the lamps remained invisible. Also, the experts had to consider the fact that the red glass illuminated from the outside by the sun appears almost black. In 1946, they installed a combination of different types of glass for the stars, namely, ruby red and milk-white glass with a layer of transparent crystal glass between them. The milk-white glass disperses the light of the lamps and reflects most of the daytime light at the same time, softening the darkness of the ruby glass during the day. In order to achieve more contrast and emphasize the beams of the stars, they installed the ruby glass of different shades, which absorbs only the red rays with a wavelength of no more than 0.62 ?m. The thickness of glass in the stars is 6-8 mm. The area of a star covered with glass equals 6 m2. The special three-layered glass sheets (milky white, crystal clear and ruby) were manufactured by Gus-Khrustalny glass factory. The ruby layer of the sheets is actually colored by adding colloidal gold to the glass. The machinery that services the Kremlin stars is located inside the towers. Special lifting devices allow for the periodic cleaning of the stars inside and out, removing dust and soot. The machines replace burnt-out lamps within 30-35 min. Experts in a special control room observe the work of the machinery.ReferencesContent of this page in part derives from the Great Soviet Encyclopedia article on the same subject (online). v?d?eMoscow Kremlin and Red SquareKremlin Wall and TowersKremlin Wall (Borovitskaya Vodovzvodnaya Blagoveshenskaya Tainitskaya Pervaya Bezymyannaya Vtoraya Bezymyannaya Petrovskaya Beklemishevskaya Konstantino-Yeleninskaya Nabatnaya Tsarskaya Spasskaya Senatskaya Nikolskaya Uglovaya Arsenalnaya Srednyaya Arsenalnaya Troitskaya Kutafya…(and so on) To get More information , you can visit some products about beach apparel, mini dehumidifier, . Parents and Teachers Love Free Coloring Pages

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 4:17 pm

It isn’t important if you’re trying to find an after faculty activity. Or you simply wish to add a little additional fun to your kid’s birthday party – free coloring pages are what you’re looking for. What kid does not like to paint their fave super hero, or she-ro to keep things politically correct. Thanks to the web you can run to your PC and print out many free coloring pages in a matter of mins. This will end up in hours of fun and instructional entertainment for your kids. You would think that after your youngster has finished their masterwork that would be the end. By teaching them to do so your little one will develop hand eye coordination by using the keyboard and mouse. Before long I am sure your kid will begin to teach you a thing or 2 about the Net that you did not know.FREE COLORING PAGES FOR PARTIESYou can use your free coloring pages to have a coloring contest where of course everyone wins a prize as another fun activity.Keep in mind that these are coloring pages that you can keep in your kid’s scrapbook forever. CUT DOWN ON ARGUMENTSI typically print out free coloring pages for my nephew – no problem right? Then I was asked to baby sit some other small ones one evening. I passed out a coloring page to all of them together with a big bucket of crayons. I was then off to watch an episode of Monk. After about 3 mins the fight was on. The kids were disagreeing over one special coloring page. Usually this would’ve been another disaster. Imagine if I only had the standard coloring book. This would have turned into a big crying fest. Thanks to the Net I zipped into the PC room and simply outlined many more of the same coloring pages and saved the day. I even made it back in time to see Monk work his wizardry and solve the case once again. Also, check out my other guide on hello kitty coloring pages .

The Day I Fell in Love With Mickey

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 3:54 pm

I hate cats. No, the more correct term would be afraid of. I’m afraid of those feline creatures, so much that whenever I see a likeness of a cat, I hurry off to the other direction. And when I say likeness, I mean anything that is remotely close to a cat. Hello Kitty is not an exception. Whenever somebody gives me a Hello Kitty item, I vehemently refuse to touch it. I don’t care if they could see that I am not pleased with their choice of gift, I won’t lay a hand on it. They can call me rude but isn’t more uncouth to give somebody something they are terrified of? Yeah. That’s what I thought.

I am not much of a dog fan either. I got bitten by one mean supposed-to-be man’s best friend and that one experience is enough to turn me off canines. Compared to cats, I have really nothing against them. I figured my neighbor’s vicious dog thinks it is expected of him to sink his sharp teeth on anyone who comes through the white gate since I was not the only kid in the neighborhood who was bitten. However, you still won’t see me cuddling a puppy no matter how cute or lovable or how much of a darling it is. Sure, Snoopy is cute and the black and white combination is such a nice touch but Charlie Brown’s extrovert beagle does not do a thing for me.

While everybody else is filling their room with Hello Kitty and Snoopy stuff like pillowcases, lamps, and clocks, I was searching for an animal character that is perfect for my taste. I said no to Garfield, of course. Donald Duck has a weird voice. Bugs Bunny is too smart for my liking. Tweety Bird is so childish. Taz cannot talk and eats garbage. Winnie the Pooh always seems like stuffing honey into his mouth. Eeyore is depressing. I could go on and on.

I’m sorry if you idolize some of the characters I mentioned, I’m not trying to start a fight with you. I’m merely stating facts as to why I did not choose them as my animal hero. I may come across as a picky person but if I have one shot at choosing my favorite animal cartoon character I might as well be as selective as I can be.

I woke up earlier than usual one Saturday morning and instead of Huckleberry Hound singing “Oh my darling, oh my darling Clementine”, the TV screen was all about Mickey Mouse. I heard of Mickey prior to that Saturday (who hasn’t anyway?) but I haven’t watched any of his shows yet. So while I was pouring milk to my bowl of Trix, I settled in the living room and glued my eyes in the telly. Since then, my Saturday mornings starts at eight instead of nine.

I love Mickey Mouse. I can’t really pinpoint the reason why but from the time I watched him in the tube, I became a fan. He tries so hard to impress Minnie and he is such a good owner to Pluto. He is not childish or cunning. Mickey is so ordinary, he seems like a real human being.

Even now that I am already nearing my twenty second birthday, I still collect Mickey Mouse items. I have posters, DVDs of his shows, and comic strips. I have a bunch of towels, bed sheets with matching pillowcases, alarm clock, wall clock, wrist watch, necklace, bracelet, desk lamp, you name it. I don’t know when I’ll stop looking for Mickey Mouse on every item imaginable, probably never.

The author also writes articles for Mouses where other mouse characters are featured.

Coloring Books and Your Kid?s Loot Bags

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 12:25 pm

We all some issues on occasion making an attempt to come up with present concepts for those loot bags, but don?t worry because coloring books make a great filler item. You can virtually guarantee the youngsters will use the coloring books that they get in their loot bag, particularly if they are primary school aged. It?s awfully straightforward to believe that with today?s gizmos and technology children just aren?t curious about the straightforward ideas, but they’ll always be drawn back to the classic activities. You can regularly find coloring books that are themed after your party concept for an inexpensive cost. You can mostly find groups of them in packs of 2 dozen or so. That?s just enough for your guests loot bags with some leftover for your own children to color in. Though the children at the party might feel sort of like they?ve been gypped, so it?s probably better to put the full sized coloring books in the loot bags.Along with the coloring books you?ll need to add a package of crayons. There are a selection of crayon packs to select from, jumbo crayons, metallic, neon, minis, and the basic 4 pack of red, blue, orange and green. You may also include gel pens, chalks and markers for the children to be used in their coloring books. There are also bulk jumbo packages of crayons that have like four hundred crayons per box. They regularly come in just 8 colours, but you can pick up one of these cases and have them sitting out for the party together with some loose coloring pages to help in keeping the youngsters occupied in the event. Also, check out my other guide on hello kitty coloring pages .

New eBay Sales Opportunities with Your Existing Resources

  • Posted on July 1, 2009 at 11:37 am

In this week I would like to share some regular strategies which keep my product sources growing all the time in a reliable and trustable manner. You may remember that few weeks ago we talked about approaching some local shop owners and suggesting a solution to sell their items as an additional revenue stream. Also, we mentioned that you could offer the same solution to some online sellers who didn’t know how to get into the eBay marketplace. However, some of you may be a bit skeptical to work with people you don’t know at all, right? How can you ensure that they are 100% trustable?Have you ever thought about that there are actually a lot of people you can trust? They are your friends, people you may have known for years. You can always start a business partnership with your friends without the need to build up a trust from zero. But this is something you may have not thought of, isn’t it? You probably meet with your good friends once a week, having dinners or drinks, chatting for fun or nothing. How can you possibly think of business opportunities good for both sides? This is kind of my habit now. You may see if it applies to you, too. I am not talking about that you have to talk about business and money as the only discussion topic with your friends. But you can always think of benefits that you may bring to your friends if you can do some sales for them with the existing resources they have. Some time ago I talked to Stephy who liked to do some handmade jewelries for herself and for freinds as gifts of different occasions. Then an idea came up to my mind: why not selling these special things in eBay? As these are all her own handmade items, she doesn’t need to keep a big stock. What I need to do is to make pictures of all styles she can do, then I can start selling any time. She doesn’t need to create new stock until I get sales for her. The mode of business is actually build to order. She does not have much cost to spend. But it could be a new stream of revenue to her. Both of us are happy.Another day when I chat with another friend, Paula, who moved to Japan some time ago, we noticed that there were a lot of funny or innovative items which the trends always started from Japan, e.g. Hello Kitty gifts with can be found in local Japanese stores only. Hello Kitty fans from around the world always love to collect them even it may cost a lot. Then Paula may simply get some pictures of those items and I can then start selling in eBay. She only gets down to the store and buy the items back and send to the customer for me when I get her an order. This is also a simple and low-cost opportunity to both of us.Opportunities are around your life all the time. Can you think of something else?
